World cup Lahti - Jakub is second |
Jakub Jakub set off with the right foot. He managed a super-jump (128m) like in the trainings round and scored 1st place after 1st round.
Jakub: "I managed to jump good jumps again after a long period and I'm happy for this. On the other hand we cannot forget it's sport and nothing else. The second jump wasn't bad for sure, but under such weather conditions it probably couldn't be far more."

Janda rested on the beach |
V Jardin de la It was hectic in Jardin de la Pinede at the French Riviera. The old men playing petanque - the national sport - weren't interested any more for the game, because there started young boys on creaky platform on footway. Just outside the black man they jumped high and landed on his hands above his head. Sea wind brought the sea and salt smell and played with palm trees. Thermometer showed + 14 centigrade. The Czech Ski jumpers relaxed so prior the next Olympic competition on Saturday. The Pragelato Hills lay about 300km away from here. "Very good Jakub, we will freeze you in and let you in refrigerator until the competition," praised Vasja Bajc the jumping position of Jakub. "As if he changed today. He is in good mood and makes fun," praise trainer Bajc the mind change. Jan Mazoch nearly had to jump into the sea after the lost beach volleyball game. "We are the right team again," says the trainer. "Idyll, calm. We walked on the beach together with the masseur Bostajn Ahacic and they realized suddenly it's the Valentine's Day," said Jakub. You can see the sea and also casino from the 4-stars hotel "La Meridien". "We won a lot; we don't need to go back to Pragelato to win a medal," chaffed Bajc. "I played roulette, it's like ski jumping" said Janda. The escape from the Olympic stress has been planned already in autumn. "We tried a combination of staying at sea and high and it came right" said Bajc. They will train already today afternoon back on the Hill in Pragelato.

Press release from Jakub Janda |
I speak to all my fans and also the public, who I didn't make happy through my sporting performance but also during the TV interview yesterday
I'm not happy about my results but after some time I have to see it another way. Olympic Games are a very special event with specific atmosphere and psyche plays a very significant part, especially on the middle hill. As you may know, lot of things took place around me, trainer Vasja Bajc and the whole Ski jumping section; unfortunately mainly negative ones. I tried to put up with it but I didn't manage it as fast as I'd like to. I know I wasn't the only one, who didn't come right during the middle hill competition, but I have to fight again. I have to start by myself to face up to my psyche.
I would like to apologize for the unsuccessful Interview by all my fans and also the Czech TV and its sportscasters. Neither the yesterday's results were OK or the interview. I have now three days off and I hope I be back as you know me.
I'd like to bring delight to all my fans and people who know me again.
Best regards from France
Jakub Janda

Willingen - Wind played with score sheet! Jakub scores 8th place ... |
Jakub Janda had to fight from 14th place. The psychic pressure increase the sporting achievement of Jakub; so after 125m from the first round he put on 15m more in the second round and placed 8th. His jump was the third best in the second round and 8th place was the best possible achievement he had been able to achieve under the difficult weather conditions. Ahonen was 6th; so Jakub keeps the yellow jersey also after Torino. There are 5 more competitions left in this year's world championship and Jakub takes the lead having 43 points more.

Willingen - Janda hits 8th place again |
Qualification in Willingen revealed again a bit more. It revealed us not only the perfect shape of Thomas Morgenstern but also comeback of technically good jumps of Jakub Janda. The qualification won Morgi (146m), second was Janda (140.5m), Kiuru was third (141m), Alexander Herr was fourth (144m). Both jumpers received unfortunately less style points than Jakub did. Janne Ahonen skipped the qualification. Jan Matura (124m) was 25th, Borek Sedlak (107.5m) was 31st and Ondrej Vaculik (105m) was 41st. The jumpers would need to add approximately 10m more to get points, which is not too far for Willingen hill.
